Eric Bucher, MD, FAAP

Dr. Bucher joined Children’s Health Care in the summer of 2001. Prior to that he was in practice for three years in western Pennsylvania, where he also served as director of the level II special care nursery at Westmoreland Regional Hospital. As an undergraduate, Dr. Bucher majored in English literature at Northwestern University. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago and completed his residency training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Bucher is board certified in pediatrics. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of several other prominent medical associations.
Dr. Bucher was born in Germany to American parents while his father served in the US Army. Returning to the States at a young age, he was raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. Outside of the office, his interests include playing and writing music, woodworking, and genealogy. Dr. Bucher plays bass guitar regularly in a local rock band and holds season tickets to both the Boston Lyric Opera and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Over the years he has managed to perform and record music in several states, build a library for his home, and trace some branches of his family tree back as far as one thousand years. He is married to his college sweetheart, a high school English teacher and Massachusetts native, and they are both kept busy by their three daughters.
