carolynpp-200x300 Dr. Thumser joined our practice in 1990. A native of New York, she attended Colgate University and the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse. She completed her pediatric residency at the Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital. She is board-certified in pediatrics, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Thumser’s special clinical interests are Lyme Disease, Autism and behavioral pediatrics.

Dr. Thumser, her husband, Joe, daughter, Lauren, and son, Peter, find Newburyport the perfect place to indulge in their love of outdoor activities including skiing, camping, gardening, and hiking. In addition, she and her family have a strong interest in Christian medical missionary work, and have taken numerous trips as a family to the Peten jungle in Guatemala, with the international organization “Hearts in Action”, as well as to Haiti. Domestically, they have participated in medical clinics with “Touched Twice Ministries”, an organization that helps serve the medical ., physical and spiritual needs of the under-served population in the Lawrence area
